Pine Tar Shampoo & Body Bar
I made this type of soap due to a number of requests. My brother uses it with great results.
Pine Tar has been a folk remedy used for 100's of years for helping skin that is way out of balance with flair ups. It has also been an old traditional solution for some animal wounds and horses' hooves because it is soothing and has natural antiseptic qualities. It is widely used in the wooden boat industry.
Pine tar is a thick, gooey pitch that has a very distinct, pungent, woodsy, leathery smell. Some like it, some do not. Not all pine tar is the same. We use creosote-free kiln-burnt pine tar imported from Sweden which uses a centuries old process and has the reputation of being the highest grade pine tar made.
This unique soap formula contains natural ingredients known to be very mild and gentle like olive and avocado oils and shea butter and of course pine tar which is where the dark brown color comes from. So gentle it can be used as a solid shampoo or a body bar.
There is a lot of information on the internet about the history and various uses of pine tar .
Saponified (the soap making process) oils of: olive, coconut, palm, castor, pine tar, sunflower, avocado, shea butter, rosemary extract, has the distinct smoky scent of pine tar.
